The Mulateiro tree (Calycophyllum spruceanum) is a very old tree that grows 30+ meters/98 feet tall, known for its unique bark, which sheds its bark around two times a year, to rid itself of fungus and lichens.

Mulateiro hapé is a powerful blend renowned for its rejuvenating and protective properties. It is crafted using the bark of the Mulateiro tree, highly regarded for its regenerative and anti-fungal qualities. This tree has been used since ancient times for its anti-parasitic, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial effects

The shedding process the tree goes through symbolises renewal and offers powerful antioxidant and anti-aging properties, making it popular in traditional medicine and modern skincare, often called the “tree of youth” for skin health, fungi/parasite treatment, and as a spiritual aid.

Historically, The Huni Kuin tribes say that the female warriors bathed in the full moon with a mixture of this tree and other herbs to maintain their youth and beauty. The tribe as a whole drink the tea for stamina and strength. Many have looked as this tree as a sort of fountain of youth.

Huni Kuin are an indigenous people of Brazil and Peru and hey are located along the Purus and Curanja Rivers in Peru and the Tarauacá, Jordão, Breu, Muru, Envira, Humaitã, and Purus Rivers.

In the Peruvian Amazon rainforest, some Huni Kuin live onthe Alto Purús Indigenous Territory with the Kulina people. They are also known as the Kaxinawa Cashinauá, Caxinauá, or Kashinawa people. This name comes from kashi or “bat” and nawa meaning “outsiders” or “foreigners”. Their autonym is Huni Kuin or “real men” or “true people”, from huni, “man”, and kuin meaning “real” or “true”.

The language of the Huni Kuin belongs to the Pano linguistic family, which they call hatxa-Kuin (true language). The population is approximately 4,000 people, and they account for a percentage of 42% of the indigenous population of Acre state in Western Brazil.
