Kuma is an intense and strong Hapé. It is made from the ashes of the Cumaru tree (Dipteryx Odorata); a tree that does not rot, Kuma is extremely grounding and it has the ability to put the user into a deep trance-like state. Purging is not uncommon.
According to the Huni Kuin indigenous knowledge, It is believed that Camaru possesses wisdom and much magic. The strength of Camaru is associated with spiritual protection and the power to fight off the evil eye.
Cumaru tree is one of the tallest trees and often towers above other trees. The Huni Kuin consider it to be the spirit of the Cumaru one of the main teachers of the rainforest.
The Huni Kuin also refers to this hapé as the ‘Black hapé‘ because they use it to protect themselves against low energies and spirits.
